Although the event is not a contest, participants can qualify for award certificates by contacting special stations.<br /><br />These stations must operate on or close to a site where Guglielmo Marconi carried out experiments or where Marconi equipment was used prior to his death in 1937.<br /><br />Further information can be found on the web at <a href="http://www.gb4imd.org.uk" rel="external">www.gb4imd.org.uk</a>. ]]></content:encoded></item><item><title>GB2MGY  - This coming weekend</title><dc:creator>g7obs@g6ut.com</dc:creator><category>External Event</category><dc:date>2007-04-12T11:35:36+01:00</dc:date><link>http://www.g6ut.com/news/blog.html.html#unique-entry-id-16</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.g6ut.com/news/blog.html.html#unique-entry-id-16</guid><content:encoded><![CDATA[COBRAS members at GI2BX in Belfast Northern Ireland, are running the special event station GB2MGY to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, this Saturday and Sunday (14th and 15th).<br /><br />The COBRAS are affiliated to the ISWL, so this station will count for the Monitor award in the normal way.<br /><br />The original plan was to operate from Blackhead lighthouse. This has now been shelved. Any applications they receive between now and 1 December 2006 will be forwarded directly to Ofcom.<br />The RSGB advises all amateurs planning to either renew or apply for their licence to wait until 1 December 2006.
